Board Results - One Major Milestone

Milestones - some small, mostly big but all equally important.

First Steps, First Words, First Birthday, First Day Of School, Last Day of School, Leaving Home, Graduation, First Job, Marriage are just a few of them.

Wait !! I missed out on a major milestone and that is the Central Board of Education ( in short CBSE) Results.

Class 10th and 12th Board results are amongst the major milestones in academic life of the child and parent both.

It is a big deal by all means. From the examination centre which is a different school, to the question papers and checking, it is all being held and done outside the comfort zone of the child. Since lakhs of students all over India appear for the same, it is duly reported and the updates are aptly followed by parents who are anyways having a difficult time managing their own emotions.

As I have become much calmer with my expectations the second time around with my younger daughter, it was not the case with my elder one.

Would just  like to share my few learnings for parents and children alike with the hope that it can truly help them. Although no book or blog on parenting can prepare us for the role of a parent, it is an experience and we can only grow through as we go through it.

The first lesson that I learnt is as follows :

We all want our children to succeed and do well and they will. But they will have success in their own way and in their own time. Until then, let us as parents, support them to the best of our ability unconditionally.

My daughter, who has scored 80 percent in class 10th boards is feeling motivated to study harder, smarter and better and all on her own accord. I am proud of her to have beaten all odds in the toughest year of COVID, online classes, not being able to meet with her friends, also amidst changing  guidelines and patterns of CBSE and emerge a winner.

The purpose of being educated is to distinguish right from wrong, good from evil, to know ones rights and duties, to be able to contribute to society in some way and to have a fuller, fulfilling, purposeful and a complete life by becoming a better person.

Time to reflect if it's  accomplishing the purpose above ? What say ??

Ofcourse, easier said than done but when you fall or fail and the lesson and learning that follows or comes with it, there cannot be a higher realisation than that.

Failure is an absolutely amazing teacher and it's not the opposite of success, infact it's a part of success.

Be there for them every way possible before, during and after the exams and the results. Your presence, encouragement, support and motivation means a lot.

And last but not the least

Don't judge or compare them with their peers.

Few tips for parents to beat the exam stress

Cheers to many more milestones and memories

To all of you out there,

 Happy Parenting 😊
