Mind and Body πŸ§ πŸ‹️‍♀️πŸ’ͺ

 Mind and body is the link between our thoughts, attitudes, behaviours and our physical health. Our emotions; anger, worry, grief, self loathing affect our body, our emotions affect our health, our emotions also affect longevity. Stressful emotions lower immunity, the healing is also much slower. I have felt my stomach tighten up whenever I am anxious, and if you have also ever felt the same, you have experienced the mind body connection.

Believe it or not, our mind and our body are one. If one is affected and impacted over a considerable period of time, in this case "The Mind", the other would be impacted too which is "The Body".

On an average, we think about 70-80,000 thoughts in the day which in essence means that our brains never stop working. Out of so many thoughts, how many thoughts are on a positive note is worth pondering over. And if we were to give it a serious thought as to where all this inner dialogue, negativity, negation, rejection and criticisms for self and others are going, chances are that it will show in the body one way or the other.

I am not implying that we or our thoughts are to be blamed personally for all the serious or any illnesses. But our bodies  respond to our minds, beliefs or attitudes positively or negatively with inflammation, fluctuating hormonal levels or blood pressure, diabetes, anxiety, increased stress levels and so much more.

 On the
 other hand, what we do to keep our bodies healthy, as in how much we exercise, what and how we eat, how much water we drink,  affects our mental state as well.

With so many physical health issues, aches and pains  in and around me, I  decided to give this aspect a solid look today

What can I do to make sure that my body and mind are healthy are;

Think right to begin with. Try and replace or switch those negative thoughts with positive ones. Easier said than done ...oh yeah !! But health requires constant work day in and day out, every day and every way. For me my Buddhist practise of daily chanting helps me in that.

Exercise makes one happy. It can elevate that mood. Movement is medicine. Make exercise a priority, Walk, swim, participate in any sports, cycle but exercise no Matter what.

Drink plenty of water, make sure you are not thirsty. Stay hydrated

What you eat has and always will make a difference.

Quit smoking if you do. There are lots of benefits for quitting smoking and zero for continuing to smoke.

Go outside. Feel the grass, the air, the sun and guaranteed you will feel great.

Get enough sleep. Please do not compromise on that as it is an essential and integral aspect to feeling healthy. Do try and get seven to eight hours of sleep at a stretch.

Becoming more self aware of what I hear, see and consume also impacts health.

Here's wishing you excellent physical, mental, spiritual and financial health always πŸ™
