 A difficult but an equally relevant topic. Difficult because we all may know someone who has been through one or the other form of abuse, yet find it extremely hard to speak about it.  Abuse is when someone causes us harm, injury, hurt or distress. It can take soo many forms starting from disrespect, from physical to verbal to sexual; the list is endless.  Let's look at some of the common forms of abuse; which I am sure we are all aware of :  a) Physical : Causing any kind of injury on the body intentionally. Kicking, slapping, shoving, beating, choking and more are all examples of physical abuse that we may have recognised or noticed around us and road rage is one such example of the same.  b) Emotional : Now this one is difficult to discern by the victim as well as by the outsider. Helping with Depression

In the last blog, we read about few facts on levels and causes of depression. Let's explore if someone in your family or a friend is suffering from the same, what can I do to help that member to be able to overcome that illness.  1) First of all, encourage that family member to seek help for their mental health because like any other physical illness, this one also needs proper diagnosis and treatment. When I was diagnosed with depression, this is one aspect that really helped me the most that seeking a psycologist to understand why I am feeling what I am and what can I really do to overcome it  2) Don't leave them alone. Even a simple text message to let them know that you are thinking of them can make all the difference.  3) Be willing to listen to understand their problems and not Judge.  Depression is a serious medical illness which is also quite common. It affects how one feels, behaves, thinks and acts. There is a loss of interest in activities that you once enjoyed accompanied by persistent feeling of sadness. It definately decreases one's ability to function at work as well as at home. Levels of Depression: Though there are various levels but I would like to stick to the ones below ; 1) Mild - High Functioning  2) Moderate - Treading Water 3) Severe - Drowning 4) Extremely Severe - Unable to function Now Let's look at some of the warning signs: Now that we know what the signs are, please always look out for them in your dear and dear ones.  Few Facts :  - Women are more prone to depression than men. - Depression is different from sadness; however both of them can coexist. - It can run in families.
